FLASH expertly engineers and develops systems that defend our nation and IT infrastructure, while enabling government agencies to accomplish their goals with an array of technology management expertise, services, and support. These include cyber security, Cloud computing, network and systems engineering, instructional systems and curricula design, and more.
Our expertise in these areas is well regarded, and our team includes highly skilled and experienced professionals. We also have close working relationships with outside manufacturers, developers, and other experts we can call on for “moment’s- notice” consults. In many cases, these are the experts who “wrote the book” on various matters we want to address.

Helen Hazelton, Chief Executive Officer
Helen Hazelton has more than three decades of broad experience in business and service delivery, gained through various senior management level positions in healthcare delivery, operations, and business development. Helen is an effective communicator and has been able to relate complex delivery services, programs, and technological knowledge to all levels of management, employees, and customers. She spent over 20 years working with health delivery programs, electronic charting, utilization, and quality system issues. She’s been involved in IT design to improve end-user functionality and created crosswalks for system analysts. Helen is also experienced in evaluating educational needs, organizing, planning, and problem solving.
Helen is a highly effective and creative leader with operational expertise in diverse markets, including international operations, within the managed care continuum. She has had direct management responsibility in new business development, including relationship building with customers to define business needs and develop solutions. She has been responsible for cost estimating, cost management, and analysis of cost drivers, contract implementation and administration, quality improvement in the service delivery, and new product development and implementation in the Maryland market. Her P&L responsibilities were instrumental in growing a small company’s annual revenues from $17 to $30 million.
Helen has been involved in taking the lead role in a re-engineered Customer Service Process and implemented the new process following site training. She also was responsible for evaluating functional processes and established measurements.
Helen has her Diploma in Nursing from The Reading Hospital School of Nursing, and is a Certified Legal Nurse Practitioner. She has her Bachelors of Arts in Business and a Masters of Business Administration from Chadwick University. Helen was born and raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania and moved to the Baltimore area in 1997. She is married with 2 great children.
Outside of work, Helen enjoys spending time with her family at the summer cottage and lake in Mt Gretna, PA. She also enjoys traveling, watching football , golfing, and reading.
John Hazelton, Chief Technical Officer and Senior Executive Business Development
John Hazelton founded FLASH Technology Group, LLC in 2007 as an Information Technology Engineering firm focused on exceptional customer service. Since then, John has guided FLASH through steady growth and a well-earned reputation for providing exceptional support to the Intelligence Community with a broad array of services.
John has over 30 years of IT and Management experience in the military, government, and commercial sectors. He is an expert in Enterprise Data Center Environments, performing implementation and support across a wide range of disciplines including Network Engineering, Security Engineering, and Application Hosting.
John has a wide range of technical and communications training and received his B.S in Business Administration from Chadwick University. In addition to his broad expertise, John has several certifications in the IT field. He is ITIL v3 Foundations Certified, CISSP, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, and Cisco Certified Network Professional.
John originally hales from Kansas, but after spending time in the Navy and then following his wife around the globe for job opportunities, he and his family settled in the Baltimore area in 1997. John is married and has two great children, an intelligent dog and two crazy cats.
Outside of work, John enjoys outdoor activities. He participates in the Joanne M Nicolay Melanoma Foundation, South Carroll Sprint Triathlon annually, along with his children, as part of the FLASH team. John also enjoys golf and watching the Orioles, WVU football, and the Ravens play, and he tolerates his wife and son cheering for their Broncos team.
Denise Magruder, Vice President of Business Management
Denise Magruder is a talented and driven professional with over 25 years of management, recruiting, sales, account management, and training experience in the Staffing and Recruiting Industry. She has a proven combination of leadership, operational, human resources, and customer relationship building skills that consistently contribute to operational growth and success. Currently, she provides IT, Intelligence, Security, and Administrative talent to the IC for multiple contracts, and she focuses heavily on marketing FLASH Technology Group for new partnership opportunities. She serves on the Executive Management team as well as being responsible for human resources, contracts, and program management.
Denise began her career in recruiting as an Account Representative for Strategic Edge Solutions, doing full cycle staffing of Administrative and Light Industrial talent. In addition, she managed customer relationships and developed business. From there, she was promoted into roles as Branch Manager, Dr. of Operations, Dr. of Training and Information Systems, and Area Operations Management. In her eighteen year tenure, she played a critical role in helping to take a small, ground floor company and grow it to a 40 million dollar operation. Denise developed the company’s training program and was part of the executive team that developed all operational policies and procedures. She helped set up and manage all nine branches. She lead the migration of all of their software purchases, developed tactical sales solutions and proposals, delivered Employment Law Certification classes, created marketing strategies, and managed all advertising.
From there, she moved into an On-Site Management role for Staffmark, Inc., overseeing recruiting, internal hiring, payroll, sales, advertising, P&L, SG&A, workman’s compensation and safety programs, and managing over 100 employees of a 4 million dollar operation.
At Sparks Personnel, Denise diversified her management, sales and recruiting skill-sets to include permanent placement for professionals, primarily in the Finance and Accounting arenas. She was responsible for internal hiring, branch profitability and staff development.
As Dr. of Operations for TeleSec CORESTAFF, Inc., Denise developed a cohesive team dedicated to ongoing improvement of business and operations. She guided managers and sales representatives in profitable growth, outstanding service and efficient operations. She coordinated with executives on business development priorities, cross-selling efforts, sales presentations, and training and development of internal staff.
Denise was born in Pennsylvania and has primarily lived in Maryland. She was a Business Administration graduate from Towson University. She is married and has a son. She and her husband enjoy supporting their son in his education and athletic endeavors.
